Gary & Ian Bartlett's Profile

Our Business.

Gary and Ian both run a garage in Weymouth called Bartletts Motor Technicians. Their website can be found by clicking the logo above.

Bartletts Motor Technicians is a family run business established in 1982 by Gary on the Grandby industrial estate in Weymouth.

Younger brother Ian joined in 1995 when the business was relocated to its present more central location with larger premises.

Our Racing.

Ian and Gary have racing in their blood; Gary started out motor racing in the early 80’s and progressed to the AWDC Safari championship in the late 80’s.

Ian started banger racing in the late 90’s and progressed to the British Jet Ski championship in the late 90’s.

In 2003 Ian and Gary prepared a standard production Mitsubishi Pajero to race in the AWDC Safari championship once again.

Although they achieved a class win that year it was slightly tarnished by having to rebuild the car after their first event after destroying it in a roll.

In 2004 Ian and Gary took on the British Off-road Championships which saw the car being wrecked again following an infamous incident with a tree at Ellesmere in the second round. This lead them to buy a diesel powered bowler buildcat to complete the season.

In 2005 Ian bought a bowler tomcat to race alongside Gary in the Wildcat.

The 2006 and 2007 seasons saw Ian and Gary double drive again in the tomcat due to their commitment in building a new car behind the scenes.

In 2008 the British Off-road championships became the British Cross Country championships and the Bartletts 3M206 build was complete. Ian started testing the 3M206 half way through the season whilst Gary continued in the tomcat.

2009 sees Ian (No:24 ) Driving a Bartletts 3M206 running a (rear mounted) Jaguar V8 3200cc petrol, ZF (ACR Automotive) 5 speed manual selection automatic transmission, Milner transfer Box, BMW differentials and is in class F. He is co-driven by Justin Forden.

Brother Gary (No:11) has entered the season with a newly purchased Milner R4 running a (rear mounted) Lexus V8 4000cc petrol, Drength 6 speed manual sequential gearbox, Milner transfer box, BMW differentials and is in class G. His co driver is Sean Bishop.
